SAVCOR FINNISH OPEN WAS PLAYED IN MIKKELI
Internationally recognised professional Squash tournament Savcor Finnish Open was played in Mikkeli 8.-13.2.2012. This tournament is one of the few professional ones that have been played almost continuously for more than 20 years. Savcor Group has been the main sponsor since 1990.
This year’s event offered a whole new angle on the games, as they were brought to the heart of Mikkeli, shopping centre Stella. Games were played in a full glass court in the gallery of Stella, which attracted passers-by to stop and follow the upbeat tempo of this sport.
English Emily Whitlock and South-African Siyoli Waters competed in the women’s finals and the only 17-year-old Whitlock took the match by winning all three games. In men’s finals Finnish Olli Tuominen met Egyptian Karim Abdel Gawad and the quick Finn proved his skill for the 4th time in Mikkeli. Savcor Forest congratulates the winners on their success and thanks all the players for making this year's tournament
