LATVIA'S STATE FORESTS IMPROVES TIMBER LOGISTICS EFFICIENCY WITH SAVCOR ZENITH powered by Ecomond Route Optimisation Engine.

Savcor Forest has won the open tender bid for timber truck routing system implementation and maintenance for JSC “Latvijas valsts meži” (LVM). LVM selected Savcor Zenith Forest Information Management System with Ecomond Route Optimisation Engine to improve logistics efficiency from forest to mill gate. The system enables increased efficiency in delivery planning and optimises timber transport for more than 200 timber trucks from annually over 11 000 felling areas. It will also allow LVM to save transport time and costs and improve the operations chain all the way from forest areas to further processing points.

LVM pursues state interests in forestry by sustaining and increasing the forest value, while gaining maximum possible value from forest management. LVM produces annually more than 5,5 million m3 of timber, their total managed land area comprehending 1,62 million hectares. ( www.lvm.lv).

Andris Balodis, Director, Production and deliveries of timber products, says “Our round wood timber sales have grown significantly. We want to provide better timber deliveries services for our customers – delivered timber according to the weekly delivery plan and save timber logistics costs which can be significant in some areas”.

This cooperation between LVM and Savcor Forest aims at advanced optimisation to enable an increased level of delivery service and efficiency in timber logistics. The delivered system entity is powered by Ecomond Route Optimisation Engine.
