FINNISH STATE FOREST STRENGHTENS LOGGING OPERATIONS

Savcor Forest’s long-term partner Finnish state Forest, Metsähallitus, needed to strengthen logging operations. Savcor Forest and Metsähallitus signed a software development contract for expanding the WING-system to forwarders. WING-system covers the data transmission between harvesters, trucks and Metsähallitus SAMPO-system. It includes logging order (office and harvester) applications, transport order application, map applications in harvesters and trucks, e-mail application, data transfer applications: MAG (client) and HAG (communication server).

Getting the forwarders as a part of the WING-system will improve the efficiency and accuracy of the whole logging chain and ease the work of forwarder operators. Besides the coverage of the entire chain Metsähallitus will benefit from more accurate forwarder production information. At the same time the demand for additional guidance for forwarder operators and the risks of environmental damages decreases due to electronic logging orders, maps and harvester routes in forwarders.

Through cooperation with entities such as Metsähallitus, Savcor gets valuable information on the efficiency of the systems, level of customer satisfaction and ideas on which parts of the system to improve. Customer cooperation in general is an efficient way to maintain focus on the customer and markets.
