The 80-20 Ratio

When observing the performance of any continuous process, you may have encountered the 80-20 ratio according to which 80% of your time goes to collecting all the necessary data from those numerous process points and the 20% you finally have for the actual analysis. Sound familiar?

Savcor Forest’s WEDGE process diagnostics system turns that ratio upside down. The system is constantly attached to the process and collects all the data to one point to be analysed. Instead of 80% of time for data collection, WEDGE performs it for you by using only 20%. One important thing to note about the data collection is that there are no limits to it; WEDGE can handle as much as data you make available to it. It’s up to you; the system is customised for your needs.

So, you have still 80 % of your time available for process analysis; want to do something useful with it? Besides the online collection of information, another key advantage of WEDGE is its unique capability to identify and locate process problems and bottle necks. In other words, process analysis at its best.

Finally; as you have online up-to-date data constantly at your disposal and a tool that helps you to focus on improving your process by identifying problems, I dare to suggest that your decisions can now be made increasingly on actual facts and figures rather than speculation. Quite convenient, isn’t it?

Development of WEDGE is a continuous process for us; majority of that process is done through customer perspective to ensure increased quality. WEDGE users are not users of a structurally fixed system, but constantly adjustable system according to the needs of the user and the processes.
